Panagbenga is Baguio's month-long flower festival, and it runs differently from the January fiestas. There's no saint's feast at its center: it's a civic celebration of the mountain city's flower-growing, organized by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation with the city, and most of the month is low-key — a market fair, garden displays, bouquet and painting contests, weekend shows. Then one weekend in late February or early March brings the two grand parades, and a small city at the top of a mountain road fills past what its streets and rooms can comfortably hold. The name comes from Kankanaey, one of the Cordillera's languages, and is usually translated as "season of blooming."
The dates: the 2027 calendar isn't out yet. Recent festivals ran from February 1 into the first week of March, with the grand parades on a weekend in late February or early March — February 22–23 in 2025, February 28 and March 1 in 2026. Expect the same shape in 2027: a parade weekend in late February or early March inside a festival that runs from February 1 into March. The organizers launched 2026's program on January 12, so the official 2027 calendar should arrive around mid-January; confirm it before paying for anything non-refundable.
Expected: festival from about February 1 into early March · grand parades likely in late February or early March · Expected schedule below
Official 2027 calendar: not yet published — the organizers launched 2026's on January 12 and posted the full calendar on the festival's official site
Rooms: book refundable now for the parade weekend; it is the scarcest part of the trip.
We update this box as the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation releases official 2027 details.
Panagbenga 2027 schedule (expected)
Until the official calendar is out, this is 2026's official calendar laid onto 2027. The February 1 opening has been consistent in recent editions, while the parade weekend moves from year to year, so read the middle rows as a pattern, not a promise.
| Expected 2027 | What happens | 2026, for reference |

| Through February | Smaller events: bouquet and dish-garden contests, a painting contest and kite-flying, a Cordillera culture-and-dance showcase, a citywide spring parade, concerts | Feb 7, 14, 15, 18 and 27 |

2026 rows from the official calendar of the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation and the City of Baguio (updated February 19, 2026, on panagbengaflowerfestival.com); 2025 parade dates from GMA News (February 23, 2025). Dates, routes and times change from year to year — confirm against the official 2027 calendar before booking anything non-refundable.
How many days? For the parades, arrive by Friday and leave on Monday: two parade mornings, with a day each side for the bus up and down. If the crowds are what you'd rather avoid, come on a weekday during Session Road in Bloom instead.
What it's actually like
- Most of February is calm. Outside the opening day and the parade weekend, the festival is a fair, garden displays and weekend contests in a cool mountain city — unhurried, and easy to pair with the rest of the north.
- The parade weekend is the opposite. On float-parade morning in 2025, GMA News found people already waiting along Session Road at 5 a.m., some of them there overnight. In 2026 both parades started at 8 a.m. and ended at the Melvin Jones football grounds beside Burnham Park; roads close around the route, and the city's narrow streets jam before and after.
- Session Road in Bloom follows the parades: the main street closes to cars for a week and fills with stalls and sidewalk cafés. On a weekday it's the easiest way to see the festival.
- It's cool by Philippine standards. Baguio sits about 5,000 feet up and runs around 15–25°C, so pack a jacket for the evenings.
The booking math
| Item | Reality |
|---|---|
| Rooms | Book the parade weekend first and keep it refundable until the official calendar is out. Weekday rooms during the festival are far easier. Verify a place before you pay: ahead of the 2026 festival, Mayor Benjamin Magalong warned of fraudulent online offers that leave visitors with nowhere to stay on arrival, and the Department of Tourism's regional director advised booking only DOT-accredited establishments (Daily Tribune, January 13, 2026). |
| Where to stay | Within walking distance of Session Road and Burnham Park — the 2026 parades ended at the Melvin Jones grounds there. Anything that needs a taxi into the center on parade morning is fighting the road closures. |
| Getting there | The bus from Manila is the practical route: Victory Liner and Genesis run from Cubao and Pasay: about 6–7 hours by day and 5–6 overnight, less on a non-stop premium bus. Victory Liner's Cubao–Baguio fares ran ₱666 (regular aircon) to ₱1,055 (first class) one way as of August 2026, per The Poor Traveler's fare list; our Baguio guide has the detail. Reserve seats for the parade weekend and leave in the morning. |
| Daily costs | The site's Baguio planning estimates run about $31 a day per person on a budget, $64 comfortable and $136 premium, at about ₱62 to the dollar — before the parade-weekend premium on rooms. |
Watching it well
If you only have one morning, pick your parade: the Saturday street dance is the performance, the Sunday floats are the flowers. Either way, choose a stretch of the route once the official 2027 map is out and be in place well before the start (8 a.m. in 2026) — the end of the route (the Melvin Jones grounds in 2026) is the densest spot, and café windows along Session Road sell views. Afterwards, the Market Encounter fair and the Rose Garden displays in Burnham Park make an unhurried afternoon.
Pair it with the rest of the north
Baguio is the gateway to the Cordillera: Sagada and the Banaue rice terraces are a long day's travel further into the mountains, and La Union's surf coast is down the mountain toward the sea. February falls in the dry season, which suits all three — our month-by-month guide has the detail.
