About Me

The story behind Philippines Travels Guide

Hi, I'm Sang — and welcome to Philippines Travels Guide.

I created this site because my connection to the Philippines became personal.

I'm married to a Filipina, and after visiting the Philippines, I fell in love with the country for so many reasons — its natural beauty, the warmth of the people, how widely English is spoken, its affordability, and the incredible variety from one place to another.

What stood out to me most was how different each destination could feel. One place might feel quiet, local, and laid-back, while another feels busy, modern, and built for tourism. That contrast made the Philippines feel especially interesting to me, not just as a place to visit, but as a place I could truly imagine spending more time — and eventually retiring.

As I spent more time researching destinations, costs, travel logistics, and expat life, I realized a lot of online content either felt too generic or too focused on the highlight reel. Beautiful pictures are great, but they do not always answer the real questions people have when they are trying to plan a trip, compare places, or think seriously about staying longer.

That is why I built Philippines Travels Guide.

What You'll Find Here

My goal is to create practical, honest, and easy-to-understand content for travelers, expats, retirees, digital nomads, and anyone curious about what the Philippines is really like beyond the postcards and social media clips.

Here, I share destination guides, comparisons, travel tips, cost-of-living insights, and real-world planning information to help people make more informed decisions. You can also browse our travel blog for deeper dives on specific topics.

I'm especially interested in the details that matter once the excitement turns into real planning — where to stay, what things cost, what places fit different lifestyles, what is worth the trip, and what tradeoffs people should know before they go.

Our Approach

Practical

Focused on information people can actually use

Honest

Including downsides, not just the good parts

Readable

Simple, clear, and easy to understand

Updated

Especially for topics like visas, costs, and logistics

A Note on Accuracy

Travel rules, visa policies, transportation schedules, prices, and local conditions can change. While I do my best to keep information current, this site should be used as a helpful guide — not as a substitute for official government, airline, immigration, medical, or legal sources.

For important decisions, I always recommend confirming details directly with official providers.

Affiliate Disclosure

Some pages on this website include affiliate links. This means I may earn a small commission if you book or purchase through those links, at no extra cost to you.

These commissions help support the site and allow me to keep creating free content. That said, my goal is always to keep the content useful and reader-first.

I do my best to keep this site useful, balanced, and straightforward. The Philippines has a lot to offer, but like anywhere, it also comes with tradeoffs and realities that are worth understanding ahead of time.

Thanks for being here, and I hope this site helps you plan smarter, travel better, and discover more of what makes the Philippines such a unique place.
